Optical fibres incorporated in metal tubes have been, traditionally, used in the production of optical ground wire. However, technical properties of FIMT open the possibility of wider application in industry, with emphasis on those branches where the monitoring of physical values should be carried out from one end of the fibre-optic cable only, and with a determined alignment resolution.
